Lara Tupper grew up in mid-coast Maine. She is the author of “A Thousand and One Nights” (Harcourt, 2007), a novel about singers at sea, and a contributor to Six-Word Memoirs on Love and Heartbreak (Harper Perennial, 2009). A former cruise ship entertainer, she now writes book reviews for the Believer and teaches fiction writing at Rutgers University.
